Locally owned Hogshead Kansas City is a chef-driven, creative-American restaurant focused on local ingredients from local small businesses with a beverage program specializing in craft beer.
When Kansas City hospitality veteran, Shawn McClenny, met Executive Chef Clark Grant at a charityevent, the two immediately connected over a love of the Chicago culinary scene and it’s use of local ingredients and unique dining rooms. McClenny once lived in and still frequently travels to Chicago, and Grant spent nearly a decade in kitchens there. Grant had recently moved to and fallen in love with Kansas City, and although he was becoming a part of the food scene, he wanted more. McClenny had the experience and knowledge to help them achieve their goal. They decided on the name “Hogshead,” an
old world term for a large cask used for shipment of wines and spirits.
Chef Clark Grant is departing The Capital Grille as their Executive Chef Partner to take the helm at Hogshead Kansas City, a chef-driven concept on The Country Club Plaza. Hogshead will feature locally
sourced ingredients and a menu focused on creative American cuisine. Hogshead is set to open in early November at 4743 Pennsylvania Ave, KCMO.
The extensive renovation at the former California Pizza Kitchen location promises to deliver a unique, trendsetting environment with a Chef’s counter. Chef Grant’s vision will feature cuisine from the creative
locally sourced menu in a casual atmosphere. Hogshead will also include a beverage program focusing on local craft beers and in-house barrel aged cocktails. McClenny and Grant are working with local artists and farmers, focusing on their love for Kansas City while introducing a little bit of Chicago flavor.
